EVE Online is down for Tyrannis deployment!

May 26th, 2010

EVE Online has just gone down for the latest patch called Tyrannis. Once the Tyrannis deployment is complete, it will allow players to interact with planets like never seen before. Now players will be able to harvest materials and set up harvesting bases directly on planets. In addition to planetary interaction, new planetary skills are being added. New skills include (but are not limited to) an array of planet scanning skills, command centre upgrades, and interplanetary consolidation skills.

Another cool feature to Tyrannis is the new EVE in-game calendar. Players can now plan personal as well as corporate and alliance events. Moreover, you can now track CCP events through your new EVE calendar. In addition, EVE Gate is being released to allow players to communicate and organize with the EVE community through their web browsers. This includes being able to send EVE Mail, create and accept event invites, as well as manage your contacts and calendar through your out of game internet browser.

If you have alienware computer hardware, you will also be pleased to hear that AlienFx light effects are included in this patch release. Alienware computers and keyboards will now be synced with in-game events.

And finally, there are two new alliance tournament ships being added as prizes but unfortunately these ships won’t be seeded on the market and are only available to alliance tournament VIII winners.

For a full list of features, check out the patch notes (currently down during Tyrannis deployment so I linked to google cache).

Welcome to my blog!

May 26th, 2010

Welcome to my wonderful and glorious blog. Cevolve.com will mostly involve posts about my experiences in Linden Lab’s Second Life as well as CCP’s EVE Online. I have been in Second Life since 2005 and EVE since 2004. I have taken a few breaks since then from each but have always come back to create new content in SL and to learn more skills and waste more time blowing up pirates in EVE.

In Second Life I run a gaming business called JS Games. I create and develop skilled games, including the creation of all game textures, scripts, sound files, as well as the actual shaping of each object. My business has been fairly successful over the years and was at one point my primary source of income while I was in university.

In addition to my JS Games business in Second Life, I run two small corporations in EVE Online. These corporations are mostly research and development and I have a few characters that I pay for that run them.

Anyway, more posts to come soon as I keep you updated on both my EVE and Second Life experiences.
